Walk-ins are always welcome — if we have availability we'll get you in. For custom tattoos or larger pieces, booking in advance is strongly recommended so your artist can prepare your design.

Is a deposit required?

Yes — a deposit is required to hold your appointment. It goes toward the final cost of your tattoo or piercing. Deposits are non-refundable if you cancel with less than 48 hours notice or no-show.

What is the minimum age for a tattoo?

You must be 18 years old with a valid government-issued photo ID. We do not tattoo minors under any circumstances, even with parental consent.

What is the minimum age for a piercing?

We pierce clients 18+ with valid ID. For clients under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present and provide their own valid ID. Some piercings (such as nipple or genital) are strictly 18+.

We accept any valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID — driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID. Expired IDs are not accepted.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Our standard shop minimum is $150. Most work is priced from $150 and up depending on size, placement, complexity, and the artist. For smaller pieces, we're happy to work out a custom affordable option — just ask. We also run daily flash specials at $100, so check with us when you visit or reach out through our contact page.

Piercing prices vary by placement and jewelry selection. Basic ear piercings start at $40 including starter jewelry. Ask us for a full price list when you visit.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, all major credit and debit cards, Cash App, and Zelle. Tipping your artist or piercer is always appreciated but never required.

How should I prepare for my tattoo?

Eat a full meal before your appointment, stay hydrated, and get a good night's sleep. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours beforehand. Wear or bring clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed.

How should I prepare for a piercing?

Eat beforehand to keep your blood sugar stable. Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen for 24 hours before (they thin the blood). Come with clean skin — no heavy lotions or perfume on the area.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes — one support person is welcome in the studio with you. Please keep the group small so our artists can focus. Children are not permitted in the tattoo area.

How long does a tattoo take to heal?

Surface healing takes 2–3 weeks. Full deep healing takes 3–6 months. Follow our aftercare instructions and avoid sun, pools, and picking during the healing period.

How long does a piercing take to heal?

Healing times vary widely: earlobes 6–8 weeks, cartilage 6–12 months, navel 6–12 months, nostril 4–6 months. Do not change jewelry until fully healed.

How do I get to Ink Lab by public transit?

Take the PATH train to Harrison Station (Newark–World Trade Center line). We're about a 5-minute walk west on Harrison Ave. It's one of the easiest tattoo shops to reach by train in the area.

Yes — street parking is available on Harrison Ave and the surrounding side streets. The Harrison PATH station parking lot is also nearby if you're driving in from out of town.
